My name is Berenice Vargas Bravo (1998, Mexico City), I'm a young Mexican artist, Currently living and working between Mexico City, Paris, and Chicago. My artistic practice is mainly developed around large-format figurative painting with a graphic style and high contrast colors. While some of my paintings depict absurd false legendary episodes, others represent more intimate scenes where mischievous characters dare to do things they shouldn’t do. By doing so, I aim to expose the underlying structural systems that silently shape our world. Although painting is the most representative medium of my work, my practice also extends to theatrical performances, large-scale installations and hybrid sculptural objects.

My work has been exhibited at the HAOS gallery, Atelier Alain Le Bras and Galerie Sabrina Lucas in Nantes; Maia Muller Gallery, Camille Pouyfaucon Gallery and La Villette museum in Paris; The National Museum of Mexican Art and Andrew Rafacz Gallery, Chicago; NADA Miami and ARCO Art fair Madrid.
